These particulates are readily removable in the same way other UFs are removed. Of particular interest is our experience with cross-contamination of products, leading to major quality control issues.
Jones and coworkers (2) are especially concerned about chronic exposure to ultrafine particles such as oil droplets and metals. They point out that chronic leakage of UFs into the air can lead to occupant exposure to health risks.
Food and Flavor
The manager of a food and flavor company called us with an interesting problem. A batch of mint was to be processed. The mint odors were everywhere in the plant, contaminating other products, and rendering other flavors such as chocolate, cherry, and vanilla off-spec, even though the mint processing was moved 300 feet away from the other flavor processing units. Placement of a free-standing bioreactor in the corner of the area removed all the mint powder dust and odor, solving the cross-contamination problem with the other products and taking care of quality control issues.
Below a bioreactor scrubs the air around a mint powder processing unit at a food and flavor company, solving quality control issues caused by cross-contamination of products.

There isn’t a single HEPA, UV or ionic based system on the market that offers complete localized air decontamination other than BioOx.
While other systems struggle to filter out 0.3 microns, our bio-reactors offer complete contaminant destruction all the way down to 0.0001 microns.
BioOx solution significantly reduces viral and bacterial pathogen concentrations.* In a study conducted at a hospital in Saronno, Italy, our bio-reactor reduced the airborne microbial population and particulate matter (PM) in hospital visiting rooms and attached waiting areas.
This is a graph of ammonia readings that were taken at a chicken farm during a 20 day duration with 20,000 chickens per house. The house with the BioOx air cleaning system running saw a 48% reduction of measured ammonia with the same vent time and vent box opening as house 4 (both houses were identical in age and size)
E-coli and Ammonia are two large contributors to mortality in poultry houses. Because house #3 had such a dramatic reduction in ammonia, there was a 32% reduction in mortality over house #4 without BioOx.
BioOx reactors were chosen by Bonita Springs, Florida Fire District as an alternative technology to control the fire hazards associated with the use and storage of solvents. BioOx consistently shows its incredible performance in removing all forms of VOCs quickly and its capacity to maintain those levels in the long-term.
This is a graph of “reserve oxygen” (ROx) and “booster oxygen” (BOx) measurements that were taken during a blood study at Olympic Champion Bode Miller’s equine sports training facility.
The blood of 11 race horses were measured before BioOx air cleaning systems were installed. Baseline results showed only an average of 26.9% performance in booster oxygen capacity (BOx) and 48.8% performance in available reserve oxygen (ROx).
Besides having a reserve of oxygen, blood is also capable of making new oxygen reserves. BOx is the factory that builds new ROx, it boosts oxygen reserves continuously. That’s why BOx is so crucial to performance and health.
After BioOx was installed, there was a dramatic 135% increase in BOx performance and a 45% increase in ROx performance.
Oxygen Capacity and Reserves5
BioOx’s titan-class Reactor 10000 units were installed at the Albuquerque Sewage Treatment Plant in order to sweep, capture, and destroy H2S and other fugitive odoriferous compounds from their Preliminary Treatment Facility (PTF) air.
Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utilities Authority (ABCWUA) staff took 19 samples of BioOx Reactor unit water, and sent them out for 3rd party analysis. Nineteen out of nineteen samples tested positive for sulfur, indicating positive deodorization of fugitive odors at the PTF.
